Ramblings & Tidbits…for the week of March 5

By Joe Ragonese

What a week!   Allow me to ramble a bit about hypocrisy, Ta-Nehisi Coates, a far left radical writer for The Atlantic is scheduled to give a lecture, on April 12, at West Point.  This man, who on September 11, 2001, called first responders “menaces of nature,” will likely clash with the cadets at our premier military academy.  While on campus, he will be afforded all privileges and honors given to any speaker, while treated with the greatest of respect; even though most listening will vehemently disagree with him.

Contrast that with the reception that Charles Murray, author of Coming Apart: The State of White America, 1960-2010, received at Vermont’s Middlebury College.  Murray and host, Allison Stanger, a professor at the college, were in the mist of discussing the book when radical leftists charged on stage and forced them to retreat.  The two exited to their cars, while being physically attacked.  Once at their cars, they were surrounded by crazed leftists who pounded on the windows and jumped on their car’s hoods.  The two were only able to leave the parking lot after police cleared a path for them.  Stanger drove herself to the hospital due to injuries received in the melee.  Their crime; many of those who voted for Donald Trump agree with the conclusions in Murray’s latest book, and one of his earlier books pointed out the differences in IQ test scores between the races, even though that book wasn’t being discussed.

The idea of such a savage liberal as Coates speaking at West Point, is exactly the reason to attend college in the first place.  A college degree is supposed to be something that expands one’s horizons, something that will allow them to look outside of the box.  When this writer attended, that type of thought was required; we were forced to listen to opposing views in order to better understand our own.  It is why I listen to CNN, NBC and Fox News daily, while reading The Week, Huffington Post and Chicago Tribune; to understand all points of view.  Today’s leftist students refuse to hear opposing points of view, and will not be able to compete in the marketplace after graduation.  Colleges that do not allow free speech should not receive any federal funds, of any type.

Those radical leftists attacking conservative speakers on campus, and elsewhere, are trying to stop the truth from being heard.  It is a communist tactic espoused by Marxist philosopher, Herbert Marcuse, in a 1965 essay, “Repressive Tolerance,” where he states that conservatives, whom he mistakenly labels fascists, have no right to free speech.  That theory is one derived from the writings of the criminal, labor organizer and Marxist, Saul Alinski, in his book “Rules for Radicals.”

Alinski stated that the devil was the first radical; from that analogy alone you can get an idea of his values and to what ends he was prepared to go to get his way.  The devil knows no rules, and neither does Alinski, or his followers.  It is interesting to note that one of his devout followers is Hillary Clinton, she even wrote her college thesis on Alinski, in a positive way.  Unsurprisingly, Obama is another minion.

Clinton made this week’s news in a different way, it was reveled by one of her aids, former campaign manager, Robby Mook, while speaking on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends,” that while running for the Presidency she had been briefed by the Obama administration on the ongoing investigation into then candidate Donald Trump’s connection to the Russians…OOPS, that is a felony for both Obama, any of his staffers who provided that information, as well as Clinton.

Since Obama is no longer President, he is eligible to be prosecuted for all crimes that he committed while in office.  Looking back at ex-President Nixon’s problems with the Watergate break in, it is mild compared to what has been alleged about Obama’s attempts to learn what his opposition was doing.  Like the famous question asked by the press in 1974, what did Obama know and when did he know it.  The answers to those dual questions could put Obama in prison for many years.

These problems for Obama and Clinton all began because Donald Trump pulled off the most impressive strategic political move that this writer has seen in my lifetime, by tweeting early Saturday morning about Obama investigating him.  The President turned the left’s Russia inquisition around, by agreeing with the press that they are right about the illegally collected data on American citizens by Obama.

Citing several leftist news sources, including the Guardian, The New York Times, The Washington Post, as well as others, television host, Mark Levin, pointed out stories where they admit to having been receiving information about Trump and all of his staff, from illegal wire taps, conducted by the FBI, CIA, DIA, NSA, and DOJ, all the way back to June of 2016, as soon as Trump became the nominee.  That information placed the heads of those agencies on notice that there could be legal trouble down the road for them.  More importantly, it turned the hit pieces against Trump into proof of Obama’s illegal actions, utilizing the MSM’s own words.  How can they say they lied in the first place?  What a move by Trump!

Obama denied the charges in a weak statement given by one of his minions.  It is noteworthy that Obama is a Chicago politician, and they are a breed all to themselves.  He would no more admit his culpability than the man in the moon would.  Chicago is where he learned his trade, the same trade that has landed four of the last seven governors in prison, one, Rod Blagojevich, for trying to sell Obama’s Senate seat after he was elected President.  That is the Chicago way.  Chicago pols are so arrogant that Blagojevich knew that the feds were investigating him and challenged them to catch him. He is now serving a 14 year sentence.

President Trump’s coup against the MSM has taken their breath away; CNN tepidly responded to the tweets in the only way they could, stating, “They (the White House) refused to comment on whether the FBI was undertaking a criminal investigation of Trump.”  Wow, right out of left field, there have been no allegations of an FBI investigation into President Trump, but because they have nothing to counter his tweets, remember, he agreed with their reporting about the investigation so far, they try to turn the tables against him in a transparent and useless effort to insinuate that Trump has done something wrong.  It shows how fully corrupt the MSM is.

Speaking of the MSM, it might be time to break up those multi-mass media communications giants.  There are only six monolithic companies today that own almost all of the mass media communications outlets in America.  In 1983 there were 50.  This includes movies, television, radio, newspapers, magazines, cable outlets and cable stations.  Did you ever wonder why there was so much leftist dribble on all the media?  It is because these super companies own them all.  Many of them also own foreign press outlets as well.  The mega media corporations are the property of worldwide elitist organizations, and make their outlets beholding to their corporate philosophies.  These need to be broken up to obtain a more diverse view of America.

The first amendment talks about the freedom of the press, but all of the press under the control of only a few corporations is not a free press.  Thank God for the internet, without it all the news would be homogeneous and leftist.  The only place that freedom of the press is still alive is at websites like Breitbart, U.S. Defense Watch and others like them; as well as talk radio.  Without these sites and radio stations, President Trump would not be President today.

Speaking of opposition, it would appear that the Republican Party is in opposition to itself again.  For some reason they cannot get the repeal of Obamacare right.  They talk repeal and replace, as if that is somehow sacrosanct, but they must get the first half right.  The congress sent several repeal bills to Obama’s desk, which he promptly vetoed.  Now that there is a President who will sign the bill, they chicken out.  They need to live up to their promises and repeal Obamacare.

Once Obamacare is repealed, they have until the end of the year to work out the details of another health bill.  The new healthcare bill must not be Obamacare light, it didn’t work the first time and it won’t work with some minor changes.  Ask the now defunct Soviet Union, who tried to make communism work for 75 years trying year after year to tweak it into working.  Communist ideas have not worked anywhere in the world, and will not work in America.  Obamacare is a communist bill.  The replacement must be a capitalist bill that rewards insurers, the insured, and the medical profession; not a giveaway.

I cannot end this without making mention of our soldiers being placed into harm’s way once again.  It was reported that Marines have been sent to Syria.  While the numbers are small at this time, they will grow.  This writer was among one of the first to be sent to Vietnam after the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was passed in August 1964, and watched as the numbers grew from a few thousand advisors to over half a million.  From the very beginning, the war in Vietnam was confusing because there was no clear direction for our troops, nor a determination of victory.  If we are going to send troops to fight ISIS, let’s do it right this time.  First, declare war.  ISIS is a state, whether we recognize it or not.

They have territory and a government which needs to be destroyed.  We must not get into more endless war, President Trump must be the leader I know that he can be and after war is declared, fight it to win, sending in overwhelming numbers of war fighters with the equipment necessary for victory. If we are going to place our warriors at risk again, make sure there is a clearly defined path to victory, with an exit strategy that won’t bog down our troops endlessly.  It is time to once again show America’s winning capability to the world.  Every president since Franklin Roosevelt has been a loser in war, this time must be different.

And a final meaningless tidbit; Major Richard Winters, E Company, 506th PIR, 101st Airborne Division, of Band of Brother’s fame, is quoted as saying, “Guns are a lot like parachutes.  If you need one and don’t have one, you’ll probably never need one again.”  It is a shame that his famous airborne division is depleted to the point of not being combat ready due to 15 years of continuous war and horrendous budget cuts to our military.  If the war in Syria intensifies they will undoubtedly be sent into it.  All of this anti-Trump fighting by Democrats is not simply political theater, it is the difference between life and death to our military personnel.  It is time that the American people let them know that their obstruction is no longer tolerable.
